#RealLifeWonderWoman–Meet Sadie

In honor of National Service Dog month, we’re shaking things up a bit today on the #WonderWomanWednesday blog and featuring a four-legged super hero. Meet Sadie!

Sadie is loved by Abby, a #RealLifeWonderWoman we featured back in August.

You can click HERE to read that post.

Sadie is excited to be featured on the blog today. So let’s get started.

KR: Hi Sadie! We have been told you are a very hard working Service Dog and that your mom is going to help translate some answers for us, is that true?

Sadie: Yes, I cant wait to tell you all about my job!

KR: So, is it true that you NEVER get to play or get time off?

Sadie: hehe. That is funny. Whenever I am at home, my vest is off. I get to run and play with my puppy friends and mom’s friends all the time! I have a humongous basket of toys and we go to the dog park all the time. While I am “always working” since I am always ready to alert mom before she faints, I get to be silly, roughhouse and be a crazy puppy just like my friends!

KR: What makes your job harder?

Sadie: Well, sometimes when people make kissy noises at me or try and pet me while I am vested it distracts me from my job. Also, when people bring fake service dogs and pets into non pet-friendly stores, like Target, and they bark and lunge at me, I don’t like that very much.

KR: What do you like most about your job?

Sadie: I love that I get to help mom! We go on tons of adventures together and I get to make sure she’s safe. I know I have a big responsibility to keep mom safe and it makes me feel really special.

What is your favorite thing to do?

Sadie: I love to snuggle. Snuggling is my favorite. Also getting snacks.

What task/trick is your favorite?

Sadie: I love picking things up for mom! She can get dizzy sometimes when she bends over, or even dislocate something due to her Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, so I pick up dropped things a lot. Her phone and keys are my favorites. Maybe that’s because she drops her phone so much.

What are some common misconceptions about what you do?

Sadie: Lots of people have come up to mom and said, “You aren’t blind, why do you have a service dog?” Those silly gooses. Service dogs can provide assistance for so many things. They can be medical alert dogs, seeing eye dogs, hearing dogs, mobility assistance dogs and even more! I am a medical alert dog, so know that just because momma isn’t blind, doesn’t mean I’m not doing my job!

KR: Thanks, Sadie, for making the time to answer my questions. Is there anything else you’d like folks to know?

Sadie: Yes! If you have any questions, or wanna follow along with my adventures, check out my Instagram! @sadie.the.golden.girl
