#RealLifeWonderWoman — Meet Kara Jorvig

Today’s #RealLifeWonderWoman has been named one of the top 25 women in business, in North Dakota, Minnesota and South Dakota. Kara Jorvig is passionate about encouraging others to reach their full potential and is the founder and CEO of Allegro Group, a relationship-driven professional search and business-advisory firm.

We caught up with Kara and are excited to share her perspectives, passions and superpowers with you!

KR: Please tell us about what brings you joy and fulfillment with your work and “why” you do what you do?
KJ: As a business owner, my personal and professional lives constantly intersect. Thankfully, my family and my work are two things that bring me joy. At Allegro Group, we work with senior leaders to provide outside perspective on business strategy, leadership and culture. I’m passionate about helping people and businesses reach their full potential through personal growth, professional development and goal setting. I am also committed to helping women on their leadership journeys. As a mom of two amazing girls, I hope to set a positive example and help them reach their potential no matter what they decide to pursue in life.

KR: We all have inner superpowers. What are some of yours?
KJ: I have interviewed, evaluated and coached people for 20 years of my career. Over that time, I have refined my ability to see gifts, talents and potential in people sometimes before they even see it or believe it themselves.

KR: Can you tell us about an influential woman in your life and how she inspired you?
KJ: My mom has been incredibly influential. She was a kindergarten teacher with a huge heart who always worked extra part-time jobs to provide for our family. Her work ethic and resilience set a great example and taught me that it is so important to work hard and never give up, no matter what life throws at you.

KR: If you could have one super-human power, what would it be?
KJ: I collaborate with a local media company on a project called “Coffee With Kara”, where I interview high-profile leaders and give viewers a unique look at these leaders’ stories. During a recent interview, I had the opportunity to skydive with a Navy SEAL out of an Air Force C-130, so I’m thinking that flying would be pretty cool! 😊

KR: What do you do for fun? What are your hobbies?
KJ: In the summer, our family loves to be on the lake and wakesurf; it’s such a great opportunity to just disconnect and make memories. During the colder months, it’s work and school activities and we also love to travel. Year-round, there is nothing I enjoy more than cooking and hosting the people I love at our home.

KR: Knowing what you know at this stage of your life, what words of wisdom would you give to your 20-year-old self?
KJ: Don’t let fear get in the way of opportunity and never stop dreaming. I work hard to embrace my inner “dreamer”. This growth mindset takes discipline and requires surrounding myself with the right people and energy, staying creative and being open to thoughts and ideas about what is possible for my family, my business and me.
