#RealLifeWonderWoman — Meet Alexandria Freel

Have you ever met someone who exudes joy?

A person who oozes positive energy and makes you feel good just being around her?

Well, that’s the first impression I had when I first met today’s #RealLifeWonderWoman. We were introduced when I spoke at a women in business event, and her positive energy was palpable. I must add that I found her business fascinating. She’s a Birth Doula. She helps people through every stage of the birthing process. In addition, she’s a placenta encapsulator, prenatal yoga instructor and proud mom herself.

I’m excited to introduce you to Alexandria Freel!

KR: Hi Alexandria! I have to admit I’m fascinated by your career. And from meeting you, I know you love what you do! Please tell us about what brings you joy and fulfillment.

AF: I find joy helping others. Each time I am at a birth I feel like my soul could explode from the excitement, the feelings all around the room are always so intense. It’s such an incredible thing to be a part of. Each birth is so different, each family is different, each experience different, but all of them incredible.

I fill my cup each morning (figuratively and literally with tea, usually green) watching our daughter grow. Playing blocks, dinosaurs, and babies with her never gets old.

I have surrounded myself with people I truly want to be around, people with the same values and goals. Whenever I am around my people, I feel full, full of happiness, energy, and love.

KR: We all have inner superpowers. What are some of yours?

AF: I’d like to think my superpower is my compassion. I feel so deeply for so many people, so many things. My desire to help, to do something about it is by far my biggest/strongest superpower. Next to that I would say my joy. It’s contagious. My joy for life, people, and things is exuded constantly. People smile when I smile, and that makes everything better.

KR: I’d have to agree with you. You are truly a joyful person! Can you tell us about an influential woman in your life and how she inspired you?

AF: If I had to pick one, (like I said I have surrounded myself with some pretty incredible people who inspire me daily) I would say my Gram. She has so many incredible qualities. Everyone who has known her or comes in contact with her can feel her love for life. She is strong, independent, and generous. Being able to be so close with her my entire life has truly been a blessing. She has so much to offer the world, I can only hope I am able to have even half the impact on someone else’s life like she has had on mine.

Alexandria’s Gram – a powerful, positive influence

KR: If you could have one super-human power, what would it be?

AF: To take pain (emotional or physical) away, even if I could dull it enough for the person to heal or process. Sometimes people just need a little bit of a relief in order to move forward. One of the hardest things for me is watching someone in pain. Stranger, family member, friend, or client, I would love to be able to offer relief with a simple touch of the shoulder.

KR: What do you do for fun? What are your hobbies?

AF: I love going to a local winery with a friend or two, listing to music and talking about life. Getting on my yoga mat and finding my balance, my breath, and re-grounding myself. Learning more and more about herbs and crystals could take up A LOT of my spare time if I allowed it. I also love trying to create new things, not that I am necessarily good at it, (thank you YouTube and Pinterest!) but I enjoy the attempt. Sometimes it works out well enough that I can even use it for my home or as a gift, other times I get a very good laugh.

KR: Knowing what you know at this stage of your life, what words of wisdom would you give to your 20-year-old self?

AF: Don’t be afraid to dream. Big or small, every single dream holds power. Find the one you feel powerful ensuing.
